Steve Porter is a 45 Year veteran of broadcast, newspaper and wire service reporting. He was an NBC News White House Correspondent throughout the Bush and Reagan administrations while simultaneously traveling throughout the world with Secretaries of State Schultz and Baker.
Early morning television viewers may remember him as the on-camera White House reporter on NBC "Sunrise," the news program that immediately preceded the "Today" program each morning with Connie Chung and Deborah Norville. Steve was also anchor the NBC Radio Network "News on the Hour" in New York from 1973 to 1983. Prior to that, he was the morning anchorman with WCBS Newsradio, the flagship CBS radio station in New York. Steve's early career included anchor positions with KYW in Philadelphia; in fact he was the initial anchorman on KYW Newsradio, which is today still number one in the market. He also was a TV anchor in San Antonio, Tampa, and Miami. In addition to his hosting of the Morning Show on WRNN, Steve writes a regular column and acts as editorial writer for the Myrtle Beach Herald. He is very active in the community and loves to play golf. He is a licensed, instrument rated pilot and spends his spare time at free-lance writing and working on a couple of books. He is married to Robbie Sloan-Porter; they have three children and two dogs.
