SCDNR is sponsoring the annual “Take a Kid Fishing Day” on Saturday, October 16th from 8-11AM thanks to funds provided by the Harry Hampton Wildlife Fund. This event will take place over different piers including Cherry Grove Pier, Second Avenue Pier, Springmaid pier, Myrtle Beach State Park Pier and Garden City Pier. Children over the age of 3 plus 1 adult will fish for free. All participants will receive a swag bucket: 5 gallon bucket, fishing pliers, tackle box, tackle, etc., bait and there will be fishing instructors available to help! Rods/Reels can be rented for free, but are limited. Raffle will be included and if you bring a reusable water bottle with, you’ll receive an extra raffle ticket (this will help us reduce our single-use plastic waste at the event). Raffle items were generously donated by West Marine, Toadfish Outfitters, and the Southern Anglers Radio Show. Participating children must RSVP to attend. The can RSVP by visiting the SCDNR Facebook page at @SCDNR and clicking on events or visiting the link
