Meet Mateo

If you’re looking for an adorable Diamond in the RUFF, Mateo is a cutie pie who is in search of an experienced and patient dog owner who will continue with his training, structure and rules. He was brought to the shelter as a terrified pup with no training, who acted out so badly that only one employee was brave enough to handle him. He even had to be sedated at the vet. Our awesome trainer has evaluated Mateo and thinks he had very bad experiences in the crate. He will go in the crate on his own, however, he barks and bites at the door as it’s being closed. Once closed, he is calm and quiet. He is becoming less and less afraid of the door as a result of positive training techniques. He will sleep through the night in his crate or in his foster mom’s bed. The shelter said he was fearful of loud noises and barked and growled when something scared him. For this reason, we are recommending no small children in his forever home. Adopter will be required to agree to a trainer if needed.

Mateo is approximately 11 months old, weighs 20 pounds (shorty/lowrider, still growing) and has a beautiful soft, creamy fawn colored coat.  He loves sitting on your lap, belly rubs, chew toys, play time, car rides, and long walks. He will do best with a female dog or as an only dog. He lives with both, but gets mad when the other male gets attention. He loves the cats and kittens in his foster home and plays with them. Mateo is a barker who is rambunctious and needs daily exercise. (He is a puppy with high energy and a short attention span.) Therefore, a home with a fenced yard vs apartment/condo living would be a better fit for him. He has learned to use the doggie door in his foster home and will entertain himself with toys. Mateo requires grooming every 2 to 3 months and combed or brushed weekly. If you’re still reading this, Mateo may just be the pup for you. He is well worth your efforts.

Mateo is neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, crate trained (see notes above), housetrained, leash trained, up to date on vaccines, heartworm prevention (6 month proheart), flea prevention and is being fostered in the Myrtle Beach, SC area. Approved application, home visit and vet references required. Adoption donation $225. For more information and to fill out an application please visit: peaceloveandpawsinc.com

Meet Dexter

Dexter was living outside as a stray who was a bit of a wild child at first. He knew no boundaries and had had no structure. Luckily for Dexter, his foster Dad is patient and has taken time to work with this sweet little guy. He is very smart and has learned basic commands, leash etiquette, house training and sleeps through the night in his crate.
Dexter likes other dogs and it would be beneficial to have a brother or sister to play with. He has not been around cats yet, so his compatibility with them is unknown. Dexter is still a puppy who gets the zoomies, likes to jump, climb and can be a bit of an escape artist. Therefore, a fenced yard and adult supervision outside is required. Dexter has an excellent temperament and an adorable personality. With proper training, he will be a great fit for any family that has children or other young dogs. Dexter is estimated to be about 7-8 months old and currently weighs 15 pounds.

Dexter is neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, crate trained, housetrained, leash trained, up to date on vaccines, heartworm prevention (6 month proheart), flea prevention and is being fostered in the Myrtle Beach, SC area. Approved application, home visit and vet references required. Adoption donation $225. For more information and to fill out an application please visit: peaceloveandpawsinc.com

Meet Midnight

Midnight, his brothers and sister, and his mom were found during Hurricane Ian. He is a ball of fire! He is very playful, especially with his foster brother, Mateo, who is a dog. Midnight is 3 months old, weighs 3.1 lbs. and is all around a fun kitty to play with. He loves belly rubs and sleeping in his foster mom’s bed. He is a super lovable kitty. Perfect for a family with kids. Midnight is current on all vaccinations and preventatives, microchipped and neutered. Approved application and home visit required. Adoption Donation $100. You can find our cat application at peacelovepawsinc.rescuegroups.org

Meet Sweetheart

Sweetheart (aka – Sweetie) is a mixed breed that weighs 41 pounds who was brought to the shelter as a stray. She is guessed to be 5 years old, but our vet believes she is younger, and her high energy level would support that. She loves playing with other dogs and attention from people. She hasn’t encountered children much in her foster home, but seems happy to greet them on walks. Sweetheart is great on the leash, but still learning not to jump and pull if approached. Her adorable ears (white with black spots) stand to attention when she hears other dogs barking from afar, but she stays focused on her walks/runs. Sweetie loves being outside, going on multiple daily walks/runs, playing with tennis balls, chew toys/bones and her favorite toy (a Kong with peanut butter inside). She’s great at “sit”, listens well in the home, on walks, is a fast learner and food motivated, which will help when learning new commands. Because of her high energy, we recommend an active home with other dogs her size. A fenced yard is a plus. She has become quite popular in the neighborhood, often getting comments about her ears or “what a good-looking dog she is” and “she’s going to make someone a great pet”. Everyone at doggie daycare adores her and sends home great report cards! Sweetheart truly lives up to her name.

Sweetheart is spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, crate trained, house trained, leash trained, up to date on vaccines, heartworm meds, flea prevention and is being fostered in the Myrtle Beach SC area.

Meet Lemon Drop

Lemon Drop has been waiting patiently (for over a year) for her happily ever after. Wouldn’t it be great if she was in her forever home for Christmas? Lemon Drop is a super sweet hound mix who loves kids, other animals and especially snuggling in your bed, if allowed. A fenced yard is a must, as she absolutely loves the outdoors and this 8 year old, who weighs 50 lbs, still has some spunk in her. Lemon Drop will be a perfect addition to your family and will reward you immensely by showering you with love, calm you with her soulful eyes and will even dance for you.

Lemon Drop is spayed, microchipped, crate trained, house trained, up to date on vaccines, heartworm meds, flea prevention and being fostered in the Myrtle Beach SC area.

Meet Prudence

Prudence joined us after some kind folks noticed her living in a wire pen behind a rural home and convinced the owners to relinquish her to a rescue. She spent her days and nights alone and in the elements, with no shade or protection from cold, storms and/or the hot sun. Now, she is living her best life inside a loving foster home and looking forward to meeting her new family soon.

Prudence is a very good girl who loves being loved on (belly rubs are a favorite), loves her toys, bully sticks, her crate, walks and car rides. Prudence likes to play with other dogs after slow/proper introductions. She is a mellow dog who enjoys carrying her favorite stuffed toy and watching for squirrels. Since being neglected for the first part of her life, we’ve treated her for heartworms, fear of thunderstorms and an untreated torn ligament that happened when she was a puppy. She has slight arthritis in her knee, but runs and plays as if nothing is wrong now. All of these things are just a small bump in the road for our Dear Prudence. On her wish list is a family with a fenced yard and a patient owner who will continue her leash training (she pulls a bit) and understand her fear of thunderstorms. She’s approximately 2 years old, weighs 47 lbs and has a bright future ahead of her! She is so happy and healthy now and can’t wait to meet you.

Prudence is spayed, microchipped, crate trained, house trained, knows basic commands, up to date on vaccines, heartworm meds, flea prevention and being fostered in the Myrtle Beach, SC area. Approved application, home visit and vet references required. Adoption donation $150.

Mikey is a 3 month old lab mix who was born in a rural area to a neighborhood dog who had been abandoned by her owner, left to run loose. Many of her puppies had died in the past. A Good Samaritan reached out to us and that was the beginning of new lives for Mikey, his 3 siblings and their mom. They weren’t socialized and were terrified of human contact. Now, they are all very sweet, love to cuddle and enjoy attention. Mikey is very smart, a quick learner, is doing well with crate training and leash training. He is independent, loves other dogs, he’s good with cats and he’s very playful. He does well in a car, puppy pen or enclosure and loves the water, especially bathtime. Mikey is still a growing puppy who requires a patient person or family who understands puppies, the chewing stage and is willing and able to continue his socialization, leash and house manners training. He will probably be a good size dog 50 to 60 pounds is a guess. Mikey is searching for his happily ever after. Could it be it you? Mikey is neutered, microchipped, crate trained, working on house training skills, up to date on vaccines, heartworm meds, flea prevention and being fostered in the Myrtle Beach, SC area. Approved application, home visit and vet references required. Adoption donation $200. For more information and to fill out an application, please visit: peaceloveandpawsinc.com
